Holiday Bicycle Ride to Benefit OCO PATH Program

Murdock’s Bicycle and Sports will host its 2nd Annual Holiday Bicycle Ride on December 16 beginning at 4:00 pm at Murdock’s, 177 West First Street in Oswego. The Holiday Ride is a 1-hour Christmas Lights Tour throughout the city of Oswego. 

“It’s a fun and unique way to experience the holiday season and support one of OCO’s many programs that serve a pressing need in our community,” said Greg Mills, owner of Murdock’s Bicycles and Sports”

The Holiday Bicycle Ride will depart from Murdock’s at 4:00 p.m. and will return there for riders to enjoy refreshment and snacks. Registration for the Holiday Bicycle Ride is $20 per person with all proceeds benefiting The PATH, a transitional living program provided by Oswego County Opportunities for homeless young people ages 16 – 21. The PATH provides opportunity to learn independent living skills, complete educational goals and to become a responsible member of the community.

 “We work with many young adults who have not had the opportunity to learn about health and wellness,” said Comprehensive Care Coordinator with OCO Crisis and Development Services Karen Merrill. “We teach youth a wide variety of skills including proper nutrition, exercise and positive community interaction. The Holiday Bicycle Ride is fun way to reinforce the importance of these topics.”

Those looking to be a part of the Holiday Bicycle Ride may pre-register at Murdock’s Bicycles and Sports or by calling 315-342-6848. Registrations will be accepted right up to the beginning of the ride. Bicycle rentals will be available; please call ahead to secure a bike for rental. Donations of non-perishable food and personal hygiene items will be welcome and appreciated. 

“We could not exist without donations from the community,” added Merrill. “The support of caring individuals and local businesses such as Murdock’s allows PATH to continue to offer services to homeless young people.”
