OCO’s SAF and SUNY Oswego Partner to Raise Awareness of Sexual Assault

OCO’s SAF and SUNY Oswego Partner to Raise Awareness of Sexual Assault

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Oswego County Opportunities SAF program (Services to Aid Families) and SUNY Oswego are raising their voices together to increase awareness in our community. Some of the many events include: The Clothesline Project from April 9th to 20th, Yards for Yeardley April 23rd, International Denim Day April 25th, Bar Outreach April 27, and Not Someone Like Me Play April 30th. The collaboration between SAF and SUNY Oswego has resulted in increased awareness of sexual assault and the issues surrounding it, as well as student body and community involvement in interpersonal violence prevention. “Strong partnerships like this are vital to spreading the message that It’s On Us to stop sexual violence, and we are ready and willing to take up that responsibility,” said OCO Community Response Coordinator Stacie France.

If you or someone you know is a survivor of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual violence, stalking, or elder abuse, please call the SAF Crisis Hotline at (315) 342-1600. The hotline is staffed by trained counselors and is available 24 hours. SAF is the domestic violence and rape crisis program for Oswego County and has provided crisis, supportive, advocacy and educational services throughout Oswego County for over 30 years.

OCO is a private, non-profit agency that has been supporting communities throughout Oswego County since 1966. A member agency of the United Way of Greater Oswego County, OCO provides more than 50 vital services throughout 100 separate locations.  For more information, visit www.oco.org. Did you know?
